Our prayers continue for those who are enduring hardships, suffering and trials due to the great East Japan Earthquake, for those who have lost loved ones or homes and have been evacuated because of the nuclear plant situation. May God give peace and comfort in such challenging circumstances! We trust He will give us power and hope when we look to Him and are still before Him and wait.

My prayer is that Jesus’ followers will be servant leaders and take a proactive leadership in Japan's recovery and rebuild this nation by wisdom from the Lord.

“The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be well like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail. ” (Isaiah 58:11)

Many Japanese people throughout the country are facing great suffering and enduring severe circumstances after the ‘East Japan Earthquake." I believe there are three key priorities for rapid recovery: 1. Vision, 2. Passion, and 3. Action. This is a time to be still and seek God first and ask His guidance and discernment. Through prayer and His word, He will fill us with His Holy Spirit. “New vision”, “Burning passion’’ and “Powerful action” will be given from Heaven for revival of the nation of Japan.

I have read an internet news article recently about a survey result (Record China) of the fast growth of Christians among College students in China. Statistics showed 65.5% of students were interested in religion and 12.6% answered “Yes” for potentially having a faith in the future. My prayer is that big revival will happen in the Chinese continent by students, and Korea, China and Japan will cooperate together as a body of Christ to expand the Kingdom of our God in Asia.

「東日本大震災」の後、日本各地で多くの人々が、様々な厳しい試練の中にあり、大きな苦難に直面しています。今、日本の復興、発展に必要なのは、①「ビジョン」、②「情熱」、③「行動」です。そのために私たちに求められているのは、神さまを待ち望む深い「黙想の時」です。祈りと御言葉を通して、私たち一人一人に聖霊が働いてくださり、天からの「新しいビジョン」、「燃えるような情熱」、「力ある行動」が与えられ、日本が再び復興、発展し、日本からアジア諸国へ、全世界に、福音の新しい風が吹き始めることを期待しています。

中華人民共和国では、「大学生のキリスト教信者が急増中」という調査結果（Record China）を最近のインターネットで読みました。中国の大学生にアンケート調査をした結果、宗教に興味を持っている人が65.5％、現在は信仰していないが、今後、信仰を持つ可能性があるかという質問に、12.6％が「ある」と答えました。中国の大学生の中から、イエス・キリストを信じる人々が多く与えられて、聖霊の導きのうちに、中国に大きなリバイバルが起こりますように。日本、韓国、中国の3か国が協力して、福音がアジアの隅々にまで伝えられ、アジアが「神の国」、「福音の大陸」となりますように、祈っています。

20 years have passed since the collapse of Japan’s bubble economy, and on March 11, 2011, the historic "East Japan Earthquake" took place. Japan has been hit with a three-fold crisis: earthquake, tsunami, and an on-going nuclear power plant radiation leak. As a result, Japan is in the state of a severe national crisis.

"That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” (2 Corinthians 12:10)

Due to a high-growth period and a bubble economy era, we Japanese became arrogant and proud that we had accomplished everything by ourselves. We forgot God. “Such is the destiny of all who forget God,…what they trust in is fragile; what they rely on is a spider’s web.” (Job 8:13-14) But the Word says,

“if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14)

バブル経済崩壊から20年が経ち、日本の政治・経済が、閉塞感のうちに低迷している中で、追い打ちをかけるように、3月11日、「東日本大震災」が起こりました。大地震、大津波、原子力発電所の放射線漏れ。日本は今、厳しい国難の中にあります。「わたしは行き詰まりの状態にあっても、満足しています。なぜなら、わたしは弱いときにこそ強いからです。」（第2コリント12：10）。高度成長期や、バブル経済時代は、自分たちの力で、この国を造ってきたという自負心から高慢になり、神を忘れていました。しかし、国家は破綻し、行き詰まり、神の力と助けなくしては、この国を再建することは出来ないと弱さを認めるとき、私たちは強いのです。神は日本を愛し、日本が「神の国」として再建され、飛躍的に発展、繁栄する道を備えておられます。弱さの中で、心を一つにして祈るとき、聖霊の風が吹き、日本が神を愛する国、神に仕える国に変えられます。科学技術万能主義に陥ることなく、神を畏れ、悔い改め、謙遜になって、神の力と助けによって、共に再出発しようではありませんか。

「主は仰せられる。わたしがあなたがたに対してしようとしていることがある。それは災を下すことではなく、繁栄を与えることであり、あなたがたに将来と希望を与えようとするものである。」（エレミヤ書29章11節）

私たちの主イエスの素晴らしい復活、イースターのお祝いを、栄光の主イエス・キリストのみ名によって、申し上げます。

主の復活は何と素晴らしく、栄光に満ちた見事なイベントではないでしょうか。実はイースターは収穫のお祝いの時です。何故なら「しかし、実際、キリストは死者の中から復活し、眠りについた人たちの初穂となられました。」（第一コリント１５：２０）と書いてあるからです。土に種を植えないで、初穂を得ることが出来るでしょうか。イースターの偉大な神秘は、衝撃的な神さまの損失を、もの語っています。もちろん全能の神を、世界最大のルーザー、敗者と思う人は誰一人としていないと思います。しかし神さまは天においての戦いで、明けの明星と呼ばれた天使を失い、「ああ、お前は天から落ちた、明けの明星、曙の子よ。お前は地に投げ落とされたもろもろの国を倒した者よ。」（イザヤ１４：１２）、さらに３分の１の天使たちを失われました。それからご自分に似せて造られたアダムとエバを失われました。そして、彼らがサタンに屈服したために、アダムとエバに与えられていた、この地を治める権威も失われました。ではこのロス、損失をとりもどすために神さまはどのような方法を取られたのでしょうか。

Peace be with you.  I hope this newsletter finds you growing in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Currently in the news, there is a heartwarming movement going on across Japan known as the “Tiger-Mask” phenomenon.  Adapted from a popular comic character, many are catching on to anonymously blessing people in need and signing their good deeds under the name “Tiger-Mask.”  How encouraging to see the positive impact around the community in a day where more and more people feel less connected and cared for by neighbors and others around them in our independently busy society.  As many see these good deeds being done to others in the name of Tiger-Mask, let’s pray for God to make hearts good soil to become fully receptive to hearing about the One true name above All names, Jesus Christ.

「与えよ。そうすれば、自分にも与えられるであろう。人々はおし入れ、ゆすり入れ、あふれ出るまでに量をよくして、あなたがたのふところに入れてくれるであろう。あなたがたの量るその量りで、自分にも量りかえされるであろうから。」（ルカ福音書6：38）

2011年、新しい年を迎えて、主の恵と平安のうちに、日々をお過ごしのことと存じます。さて、最近の心温まるニュースの一つは、「タイガーマスク現象」ではないかと思います。暗い世相の中で昨年末ごろから、漫画の主人公タイガーマスク・伊達直人と名乗る人物が、ランドセルや、文房具、現金などを、児童養護施設などへプレゼントする善意の寄付が、日本全国、全ての都道府県に広がっているということです。大人ばかりではなく、中高生など、若い世代の人たちも、匿名で、贈っているとのことです。お互いに困っている人々への「思いやりの心」や、「助け合いの精神」は、今、日本に失われつつある「日本精神」の復活であると、大変うれしく思っています。私たちもお互いに、必要を覚えている人々のために祈り、互いに愛し合い、仕え合い、与え合っていきたいと思います。

2011年、主イエス・キリストの平安と恵のうちに、新しい年をお迎えのことと存じます。今年は、更にみことばを黙想し、祈りを深め、神の御声を聞き、御心を実践する年となりますように祈っています。

中学3年生を対象としたOECD世界20ヶ国調査で、「先生や親を尊敬していますか？」という質問に、韓国84.9%、EU（12ヶ国）82.7%、アメリカ合衆国82.2%、中国（北京）80.3%が「尊敬できる」と回答したのに対して、日本は、僅か20.7%でした。50%を下回ると国家が危なくなると解説されていました。
